Job description

Job Title: IT Computer Operator
Location: Houston, TX 77042 - Onsite
Contract: 12 months (possible extension / full-time employment)

Pay Rate: $24 - $26.00/hr on W2

Shift Details:

  • Schedule: 10:15 PM – 6:15 AM
  • Days Off: Most likely mid-week
  • 24/7 Data Center Environment
  • Must be available to work weekends, holidays, and during inclement weather as required

Position Summary

The IT Computer Operator is responsible for monitoring, controlling, and balancing batch processing across the company's worldwide systems and operations. This role supports Omega OCM/Cloud software, Linux and Windows environments, and various in-house software and hardware components. The operator will monitor system performance, respond to alerts, support global users, coordinate with internal teams and vendors, and ensure uninterrupted system operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and control company-wide global systems and processing activities.
  • Perform batch balancing and load adjustments based on organizational projects and priorities.
  • Monitor Omega OCM/Cloud software and related computer systems.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve system alerts and operational issues.
  • Provide support to internal users, global teams, vendors, and customers.
  • Escalate and coordinate incidents with appropriate support teams.
  • Maintain operational documentation and reporting.
  • Support software and hardware troubleshooting activities.
  • Ensure smooth operation of all in-house peripheral and software components.

Required Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of Linux operating systems.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows operating systems.
  • Proficiency with commands, scripts, programs, and system utilities.
  • Basic software and hardware troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience working in a data center or operations environment is preferred.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 6 months of related experience, training, or education.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Documentation and reporting experience.
  • Proficiency with:
    • Microsoft Excel
    • Microsoft Word
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced operations environment.

Physical Requirements

  • Regular standing, walking, crouching, and stooping.
  • Ability to push and pull carts and equipment.
  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.
