Job description

Title: Data Center Technician

Location: Onsite 

Schedule: Shift options include Sunday–Wednesday or Wednesday–Saturday, 6:00 AM–4:30 PM or 7:30 AM–6:00 PM

•First two weeks: Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM–4:00 PM (Training) & Have to work holidays if scheduled 

Start Date: ASAP

Pay Rate: $28 HR

Contract: 6-month contract (conversion or extension possible)



Day to Day:

As a Data Center Technician at Amazon, you serve as one of many primary resolvers for your support team, skilled at troubleshooting and resolving complex hardware infrastructure issues. You support and share knowledge of these technologies with team members. You possess basic to intermediate system administration skills and work autonomously to resolve server issues. You understand all aspects of the equipment you support. You know how to take direction when given, paying attention to all details involved. You work well with a team. You are receptive to feedback and able to adjust performance and behavior as required for the position.

Basic Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent

• Networking knowledge with understanding of TCP/IP (2+ years)

• Linux operating systems experience (2+ years)

• Server hardware experience and familiarity with internal components (2+ years)

• Ability to perform hardware replacements, repairs, and troubleshoot issues

• Understanding of storage devices

• Experience managing tasks and priorities through a ticketing system

• Strong communication skills and effective teamwork

Additional Qualifications:

• A+ or CND (Certified Network Defender) or Network+ or Security+

• Data center experience (2+ years)

Physical Environment and Safety Protocols:

• Must successfully pass through metal detection equipment daily

• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds

• Standing/walking for extended periods

• Ability to climb ladders and work at heights

• Capability to work in various environmental conditions

• Temperature fluctuations dependent on seasonal changes and external weather conditions

• Work areas may contain environmental allergens and airborne particles including dust

• Ability to adapt to varying temperature conditions within the data center environment

• Ability to follow required security protocols including metal detection screening

KPI:

• Performance based on queue priority expectations

• Professional conduct

• Team cohesion and collaboration

• Work is reviewed periodically, with some guidance expected; technical solutions may require refinement.
