Job Summary Loudoun County Public Library (LCPL) is seeking to fill a full-time Adult Services Library Assistant position at Brambleton Library. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic, service-minded, community-oriented, and a collaborative life-long learner who embraces the public library's primary role of promoting the joy of reading and learning in the community. As members of an enthusiastic team, Library Assistants provide direct customer service in reference, reader's advisory, programming and circulation functions, as well as assist customers of all ages in the use of library resources and technologies.

Adult Services Library Assistants plan and lead programs for primarily adult audiences and conduct outreach to create partnerships with community organizations. The successful candidate will be a passionate, creative team player with excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills. Must possess strong multi-tasking, organizational and technology skills.

All staff work in a collaborative environment with other staff to complete daily tasks, conduct programs and coordinate outreach. LCPL provides services seven (7) days a week including Friday evenings. Work schedules vary and include weekends, evenings and holidays.

Hiring salary is commensurate with experience. Minimum Qualifications Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to a High School Diploma and two (2) years prior experience providing direct customer service to the public. Experience with Microsoft Office products preferred.

Loudoun County provides a language stipend for individuals who pass a language proficiency test. Job Contingencies and Special Requirements Successful candidates will undergo background checks as required. Notary Public License and/or Passport Acceptance Agent certification may be required within one year of hire date.

Work requires the ability to push or pull wheeled carts weighing up to 200 pounds. Some bending, reaching, walking and standing required. Ability to lift up to 40 pounds required.
