Job description

Immediate opening for a Custodial Worker to support the school's Maintenance Department as part of a dedicated team. The primary responsibility of this position is to keep assigned areas clean, sanitary, safe, and orderly. Duties include special cleaning tasks, building maintenance, and other related work as necessary.
Key responsibilities involve cleaning tasks such as sweeping, scrubbing, dusting, and vacuuming offices, hallways, stairways, work areas, bathrooms, classrooms, the student center, gym, and library. The Maintenance Department consists of twelve team members and operates year-round.
Job Summary
  • Cleaning duties include: sweeping, scrubbing, dusting, vacuuming offices, hallways, stairways, work areas, bathrooms, classrooms, student center, gym, library.
  • Empty and clean trash containers
  • Wash walls, windows and woodwork; touch up painting when necessary.
  • Clean desks, boards, cabinets, shelves and window sills.
  • Replace light bulbs; install and make minor repairs to locks; changes locker combinations; adjusts desks.
  • Sets up tables and chairs.
  • Secures buildings and turns off lights.
  • Strip, mop, wax and buff floors as needed.
  • Shampoo rugs.
  • May be on call for emergency situations and required to work in grounds or maintenance as needed.

Qualifications
  • The ability to walk, stand, bend at the waist, and reach for the duration of the 8-hour shift.
  • Continuously uses hand strength to grasp objects and tools and operate service equipment.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours and weekends.
  • Requires knowledge of several job-related trades, basic tools, materials, and terminology, and an understanding of the use of various chemicals and methods used in the maintenance of the school campus.
