Job Description:
This position requires communication, responsibility, and a good sense of customer service. Lifeguards are the main focus of interaction between patrons and employees in the Aquatics department, and are required to act both professional and welcoming at all times. Lifeguards are responsible for enforcing pool rules, performing cleaning duties, and assisting with patron concerns when they arise. Lifeguards are required to always possess up to date certifications in American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer, Lifeguard training, First Aid, as well as AED training. Lifeguards are required to complete a Lifeguard orientation and two shadow shifts before their first day of work, which allows the Lifeguard to confidently perform their duties.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Must have and maintain current Lifeguarding, CPR, and First Aid/AED certification
• Must be able to swim 300 yards
• Must be able to retrieve a 10 pound object from the bottom of a 15 ft. deep pool
• Must be able to perform a successful rescue of a simulated drowning victim, as well as perform CPR and First Aid
• Must be willing to work some weekends, work assigned special events, and attend required training sessions
