QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. High school diploma or equivalent
  2. Ability to type as well as the ability to communicate, read, write, make basic calculations, and follow written and oral instructions
  3. Meet the general health requirements of instructional personnel
  4. General understanding of the objectives of the instructional program
  5. Ability to communicate with adults, accept supervision, and be compatible to working with children

JOB DESCRIPTION:
  • Provide individual/small group instruction under the supervision or the teacher.
  • Assist students with mastering equipment or instructional materials.
  • Provide students with individualized attention.
  • Assist in grading assignments and recording grades.
  • Set up and operate equipment for instruction.
  • Assist with escorting students to and from the bus.
  • Assist students with media center and/or library activities as well as other specialists.
  • Assist in toileting needs of students (i.e., training, diapering, cleaning child as necessary).
  • Assist in health and hygiene programs (i.e., brushing teeth, etc.).
  • Maintain health and sanitation needs of environment (i.e., washing utensils, disinfecting furniture/materials, etc.).
  • Assist in feeding needs of students (preparing food to be served, feeding, training, cleanup routines).
  • Assist and supervise students in the classroom, during drills, field trips, etc.
  • Assist in maintaining the inventory of classroom materials and supplies and preparing materials for instruction.
  • Assist in the modifying materials and instruction activities, as needed.
  • Perform clerical duties such as filing and typing for classroom purposes.
  • Take and record attendance.
  • Be aware of medications administered to students.
  • Follow behavior management approach to training sessions and disruptive behavior.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • To perform other duties as assigned by the teacher and/or administrator
