Job description

The Library Assistant is expected to represent the library within the community, assist to develop programs, develop collections, and manage the library facilities. Follow Guidelines including applicable laws, rules and regulations, Nambé Pueblo policies and procedures, and supervisor and administrative instructions and directives.

Position Responsibilities will include:

  • Plans, coordinates and maintains services for our citizens for professional development opportunities, Tewa language expansion, culturally-relevant materials, and strengthen collaborative relationships within the Pueblo programs to expand support services.
  • Assist to develop a library educational plan to meet the needs of families, leadership and marginalized populations.
  • Assists patrons in the use of print materials, equipment and technologies by answering questions, offers basic technical assistance, troubleshoots computer problems, assists in navigating the Internet, locates databases in order to help patrons use library resources.
  • Locates materials, answer questions, refers patrons to outside resources and collections when appropriate in order to provide information services to patrons.
  • Maintains capital assets inventory.
  • Assists with Community Events.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must pass a background and drug test.
  • Must have a valid New Mexico driver’s license and be insurable through the Pueblo of Nambe.
  • Must possess a high school or GED Equivalent.
  • Must be First Aid/CPR Certified or willing to obtain certification.
  • Be willing to work a flexible schedule including evening and weekends.
  • Work includes prolonged sitting, as well as moderate lifting, carrying, reaching, stooping, pulling and pushing activities, manual dexterity, clear speech, and visual hearing acuity
  • Must maintain confidentiality.
