Norton Rose Fulbright Canada LLP is currently seeking a Legal Assistant to work in our Calgary Office. This full-time permanent legal assistant role will provide support to lawyers in our Employment & Labour and Litigation practice. This position will play a key role in handling administrative items. We are seeking a highly organized professional individual with excellent client service skills, who thrives in a fast-paced, high-performance culture.

You will be focusing on:

  • Prepare, compile, serve and file documents for court tribunals, arbitration/mediation and contractual matters.
  • Docket diaries, reminders and limitations.
  • Prepare expense reports and oversee key account billing administration.
  • Manage and coordinate lawyers' schedules, including coordinating hearing dates, questionings, client meetings, conference calls and travel arrangements.
  • Draft and revisecorrespondence and e-mails.
  • Transcribe, modify and format documents.
  • Prioritize workflow to ensure completion of accurate work within established deadlines.
  • Maintain files; including daily filing, file organization, opening files, closing files, etc.
  • Handle incoming telephone, email and mail correspondence.
  • Administration duties, including time entry
What you bring to the role:
  • Completion of a recognized legal assistant program is preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years Legal Assistant experience, experience in E&L/Litigation is an asset
  • Above average technical aptitude with a strong knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Detailed oriented and able to handle multiple tasks
  • Strong organization skills
  • Highly motivated and personable
  • Able to prioritize work
  • Capacity to work effectively within deadlines and short-time frames
  • Willing to take initiative
  • Responds to everyday tasks with little supervision
  • Maintains professionalism, confidentiality and discretion
