Job description

Our fast-paced family law firm is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented Legal Assistant to support our attorneys and paralegals in delivering exceptional client service. The ideal candidate communicates well, is comfortable in a Mac environment, and thrives in a dynamic setting. Legal or office experience is ideal — we welcome candidates from client-facing backgrounds seeking a meaningful, long-term role in the legal field. Kennebunk or Brunswick location.

Compensation:

$20 - $23 hourly commensurate with experience


Responsibilities:
  • Assist attorneys and paralegals by managing daily schedules and opening and closing new case files.

  • Prepare and organize legal documents, maintaining accuracy and confidentiality at all times.

  • Communicate effectively with clients, providing updates and gathering necessary information to support case progress.

  • Manage electronic and physical filing systems, ensuring all documents are easily accessible and up-to-date.

  • Coordinate with court personnel and other legal professionals to facilitate smooth case proceedings.

  • Handle incoming and outgoing correspondence, ensuring timely and professional communication with all parties involved in a case.


Qualifications:
  • A college degree is preferred, but significant relevant work experience will also be considered

  • 1-2 years of experience in a law firm or professional office setting, handling administrative tasks such as scheduling, correspondence, and CRM software

  • Familiarity with legal software, case management, or docketing programs is a plus

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines and quick turnaround times

  • Proficient in Mac OS, Apple Mail, and Google Suite

  • Strong team player

  • Excellent customer service, organizational, and problem-solving skills
