Job description

Job Title: Laser Operator

Position Summary:

The Laser Operator in manufacturing plays a crucial role in the production process, utilizing precision laser cutting machinery to fabricate parts and components according to specifications. This position requires technical expertise in operating a Mazak Fiber Optic & C02 Laser and maintaining laser cutting equipment, along with a keen attention to detail to ensure accuracy and quality in finished products. Responsibilities include setting up and calibrating laser machines, loading materials, and programming cutting parameters based on job requirements. The Laser Operator must monitor production processes, inspect finished products for defects, and make adjustments as necessary to maintain optimal performance and efficiency. Additionally, the Laser Operator may be responsible for troubleshooting equipment malfunctions, conducting routine maintenance tasks, and adhering to safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical aptitude, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

1st shift: Monday-Thursday, 5:00am - 3:30pm

Pay: $22-29

Job Type: Direct Hire

Essential Functions:

Machine Setup and Calibration: Prepare laser cutting machinery for operation by setting up parameters, calibrating equipment, and ensuring proper alignment according to job specifications.

Material Handling: Load raw materials onto the laser cutting machine, ensuring proper placement and alignment for accurate cutting.

Programming and Operation: Use computer software to program cutting paths, adjust settings such as laser power and speed, and initiate cutting processes.

Quality Control: Monitor cutting processes to ensure accuracy, precision, and quality of finished products, conducting regular inspections and making adjustments as needed.

Troubleshooting: Identify and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions or operational issues, performing minor repairs or adjustments to maintain productivity and minimize downtime.

Requirements

Education and Experience

While a high school diploma or equivalent is typically required, additional vocational training or certification in laser technology or related fields may be beneficial. Ongoing training and professional development opportunities may also be available to enhance skills and knowledge in laser cutting technology.

Previous experience operating laser cutting machinery in a manufacturing or production environment is typically required. You should have a demonstrated understanding of laser cutting principles and techniques.

Proficiency in setting up, programming, and operating laser cutting equipment is essential. Candidates should be familiar with CAD/CAM software for programming cutting paths and adjusting cutting parameters.

Able to read blueprints.

Crane and forklift experience preferred.
