Job description

As an integral business unit of Shea Properties Management Company, Inc, Tech Center Maintenance (TCM) TCM provides full-scale landscape maintenance services for various commercial properties in the general vicinity of the Denver. In addition, TCM operates and maintains a variety of utility assets for the growing Meridian Metropolitan District and other special districts in Colorado that include water, wastewater, reclaimed irrigation and fiber network utilities.

Job Scope

The Tech Specialist/Landscape Operations is a full-time position with Shea Properties, responsible for assisting managers and supervisors in coordinating projects, and ensuring the execution and delivery of high-quality services and to provide leadership, maintain a positive attitude and ensure promotion of a safe and fun work environment. The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $32.00/hour and the Tech Specialist is also eligible to participate in the snow incentive program and discretionary annual bonus plan. The Tech Specialist, as with all Shea team members, is expected to conduct himself/herself in a professional manner that is consistent with Shea Core Values and the Business Ethics, Employee Conduct and Confidentiality policy.

Job Duties

       Contribute to the overall safety, cleanliness and beauty of properties maintained by Tech Center Maintenance primarily but not exclusively through the skills of coordination and leadership of daily landscape maintenance operations.

       Participate in regular operations to include but not limited to inspection, mowing, trimming, edging, planting, pruning, and cleaning trees, turf, ornamental beds, annual flowers, pavement, and landscape or recreational assets as assigned.

       Full participation in snow removal programs include shoveling, equipment operation, and ice control product applications.

       Delegate daily tasks for assigned crew members.

       Coordinate daily check-in with all crew members distributing necessary PPE is assigned and in good condition.

       Conduct regular QA/QC inspection of all properties serviced to ensure overall quality and completeness of services.

       Full participation and contribution in company safety program.

       Train new associates to safely and efficiently use landscape equipment.  Maintain complete training records.

       Conduct ongoing training and mentoring of assigned crew members.

       Assist in procurement of materials such as landscape materials and plant materials.

       Regularly operate truck with trailer to transport crew, equipment and/or landscape materials.

       Other duties as assigned.

Technical/Professional Knowledge (Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience)

       Minimum 5 years progressively responsible landscape experience, preferred specializing in Landscape maintenance and/or installation.

       Must have effective communication skills.

       Landscape industry or related certified designation or similar training is highly desirable.

       Must be at least 18 years of age.

       Must possess and maintain a valid Colorado driver's license and a good driving record.

Work Environment

Hours are normally from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. However, the position is required to work overtime, weekends (Sat/Sun) or late at night if there are snow events or other emergencies which impact the district's ability to meet the needs of the business and/or customers.

Work is primarily performed in a diverse field setting ranging from open areas, grounds surrounding apartment units, office, industrial and retail space environments and occasionally performed in an office environment. The Tech Specialist/Landscape will work in all weather conditions and experience frequent interruptions and be required to perform work in wet, extreme cold, extreme heat and within confined spaces. With regular exposure to heavy vehicle traffic conditions, equipment noise, working with/near moving motorized equipment and hand-tools, mechanical parts, electrical equipment, chemicals, airborne particles and within confined spaces. Proper PPE provided by TCM and safety measures are required to mitigate risk.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, squat, kneel, crawl, and reach with hands and arms and lift objects up to 50 pounds.  The employee is required to be proficient in speaking to customers, and have flexible and adaptable vision, including close, peripheral, depth-perception and the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to operate company vehicles during the course of duties.
