Job description

The Medical Lab Scientist I is responsible for performing lab tests and analyses to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. The MLS I performs clinical testing in at least two of the following departments: Blood Bank, Chemistry, Hematology, or Microbiology. Team members working second or third shifts must be competent in all areas mentioned above. The MLS I is responsible for operating laboratory equipment, preparing specimens, and ensuring the accuracy and reliability of test results

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory, Chemical, or Biological Science

OR

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree from an accredited institution that either includes, or is accompanied by, the required coursework in medical laboratory or biological sciences, and laboratory training and/or equivalent experience as defined in 42 CFR ยง493.1423 for personnel performing high complexity testing.
  • Certification as a Medical Lab Scientist or eligible for certification to be obtained within 12 months of date of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory, Chemical, or Biological Science

  • Strong knowledge of laboratory techniques, procedures, and equipment.
