Job description

SUMMARY: To provide operational support to all aspects of the biodiesel plant laboratory.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintain a safe, clean work environment by observing all local, state and federal regulations regarding health, safety and the environment. This includes all established plant and lab safety practices to ensure good housekeeping/hygiene practices are maintained.
§ Perform lab technician I duties
§ Proficiency in equipment calibrations and creating standard solutions.
§ Provide analytical summaries of plant processing systems for operational staff.
§ Ability to provide operation's staff with suggestion to repair unstable processing systems.
§ Ensuring inventory of lab equipment, parts and chemicals remains adequate.
§ Prepare and ship samples as needed.
§ Perform maintenance on lab equipment with direction.
§ Engage in various on-going training as appropriate and required.
§ Certify biodiesel for domestic sales per BQ9000 quality system.
§ Perform other duties and assignments as directed by HPB management.
REQUIREMENTS:
• High School diploma or GED required
• Associates degree in chemistry or other related science degree program preferred
• Prior experience in petroleum or chemical industries preferred
• Ability to read and write effective reports and business correspondence using standard Microsoft Office products
• Oral presentation skills must be effective with all levels of management
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Lift 50 pounds occasionally. Must be able to move from place to place in all areas of facility. Must be able to climb ladders or platforms and enter confined spaces. Must be able to wear safety equipment.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work environment varies from an office, plant production areas and outside climate conditions based on the situation. Noise level varies upon which area of production employee is working in. Will be exposed to chemicals and fumes associated with laboratory work.
• NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE: Typical work schedule will be a 12 hour swing shift. 7 days on, 7days off, 7nights on, 7days off. Candidate must be available and flexible to work overtime and to cover sickness and vacations of other lab technicians. Occasional changes in schedule will be required as special circumstances arise.
