Job description

Quality Assurance Laboratory Technician

Estherville Foods Inc.

Estherville Foods, Inc. is seeking to hire a Quality Control Laboratory Technician to join their quality department. Employee will be responsible for accurately and timely performing physical and microbiological tests and analysis to determine the food safety of products, ensuring results meet the customers' standards.

EXAMPLES OF RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Following Good Laboratory Practices
  • Understanding and following SOPs and regulations
  • Documenting and setting samples (Pathogen testing, petrifilm, solids, pH, etc)
  • Collect, review and analyze data, identifying and correcting problems
  • Distribution of laboratory reports
  • Completes assigned tasks
  • Reviewing, completing and/or working with quality and other staff on completion of required documentation and practices within the facility
  • Active in the quality team for continuous improvement within Sonstegard Foods
  • Promote food safety and adhere to USDA and company regulations
  • Work weekend/holiday rotation at laboratory when needed

SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Proven team player
  • Problem solving and decision-making skills using data
  • Good verbal & written communication skills
  • Ability to document and maintain accurate and legible records
  • Highly motivated and has the ability to work multiple tasks with excellent results
  • Must be very detail oriented
  • Self-starter and works efficiently under minimal supervision

EXPERIENCE:

  • Laboratory experience (e.g., Food, analytical, hospital or veterinarian)
  • Experience in a Quality Control setting (Preferred)

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Employee is required to speak, read and write English frequently. The employee is frequently required to stand, sit and handle material. Employee will be required to use a computer, use hands and arms, climb/balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Employee must be able to lift 30-50 pounds occasionally.

Work includes office work, plant floor work and laboratory work environments. A new state of the art lab is in process of construction; position will be held at existing lab until then. Some cross training within the quality department will occur.
