Responsibilities:

Draw blood specimens from patients of all ages, including pediatric and geriatric populations, following established safety and procedural guidelines.

Prepare and label specimens correctly for laboratory testing, ensuring specimen integrity and chain of custody are maintained.

Communicate clearly and compassionately with patients, explaining procedures, addressing concerns, and fostering a trusting environment throughout the collection process.

Maintain accurate records of performed procedures, specimen details, and relevant patient information in compliance with confidentiality standards.

Adhere to safety protocols, cleanliness, and infection control measures to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.

Demonstrate leadership behaviors by promoting process excellence, attention to detail, and sensitivity to patient confidentiality.

Collaborate with team members and supervisors to ensure coverage on scheduled shifts, including weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.

Support the overall smooth operation of the patient services area by maintaining an organized workflow and positive attitude.

Required Skills:

Minimum of 6 months professional phlebotomy experience, with proficiency in venipuncture and capillary collection across diverse patient populations.

Exceptional phlebotomy skills that include pediatric and geriatric blood draws.

Strong customer service skills, with the ability to interact professionally and empathetically in a healthcare setting.

Accurate keyboard and data entry skills for specimen documentation and recordkeeping.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining attention to detail and quality standards.

Dependability in punctuality, attendance, and adherence to scheduled hours.

Valid phlebotomy certification preferred (required in CA, NV, and WA); other relevant medical training such as Medical Assistant or Paramedic is a plus.

Excellent organizational skills and a commitment to process excellence and confidentiality.

Nice to Have Skills:

Previous experience working in retail, customer service, or other service-oriented environments.

Medical assistant or paramedic training.

Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) and data entry systems.

Preferred Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent required.

One or more years of professional phlebotomy experience is preferred for advanced expertise.

Additional healthcare training or certifications related to specimen collection is advantageous.

Other Requirements:

Schedule flexibility, with availability for weekends, holidays, on-call shifts, and overtime as needed.

Reliable transportation to and from the work site, with candidates expected to live within a 20-25 minute commute.

Must be able to stand, walk, and perform blood draws in a clinical environment; physical dexterity and strength required.
