Job description

Overview

Under the direction of the Fire & EMS Coordinator, this part-time Lab assistant position will provide support to EMS classes. Duties include setting up and tearing down for pratical evolutions and assisting the instructor with instruction during practical sessions and testing students out on skills using the State EMS grids.

Responsibilities
  • Provide support for assigned classes.
  • Under the direction of the instructor, position will participate in class demostrations, labs and  one on one tutoring sessions.
  • Testing students out on skills using the State EMS grids
  • Assist in creating a classroom environment that is respectful of diversity and demonstrates a commitment to multiculturalism.
  • Identify students needing assistance and refer students to the lead instructor.
  • Remain current on curriculum content in the discipline and use of continuous quality improvement tosupport instruction
  • Assist in the enforcement of college regulations and report student conduct violations to administration.
  • Set up labs with equipment and supplies for demonstrations and skill practice and retention.
  • Demonstrate and enforce safety in the class room and lab settings
  • Work in team environment.
  • Clean up and dispose of any materials and lab equipment used during instrruction
  • Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications:

  • Have a current Wiconsin EMS certification of EMT or higher
  • Has a current Wisconsin DHS Instructor 1 certification.
  • American Heart Association CPR instructor certification (or eligible to become certified)
  • 3 years of EMS experience.
  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Passed the IFSI instructor course or comparable course
