Job description

Labor & Delivery Team Member

At Island Health, people are at the center of everything we do. As a part of the Labor & Delivery team, you'll play a vital role in supporting our mission to care for those who care for others. You'll help create a positive and seamless experience for every team member — ensuring they feel valued, supported, and heard.

Location: Anacortes, WA, Onsite

Schedule: 0.6 FTE / Mid Shift (11:00am - 11:30pm)

Salary: $21.12/hr - $31.37/hr Night Differential - $2.25 Evening Differential - $1.65 Weekend Differential - $1.50

What you will be doing:

  • Answers signal lights and bells to determine patients' needs.
  • Bathes, dresses, and undresses patients.
  • Serves and collects food trays and feeds patients requiring help.
  • Transports patients to treatment units, using wheelchair, stretcher, bed, or may assist them to walk.
  • Assist with ambulation.
  • Drapes patients for examinations and treatments, and remains with patients, performing such duties as holding instruments and adjusting lights.
  • Assist patients to bathroom, bedside commode, or with use of bedpan for toileting
  • Tidy and clean patients' rooms.
  • Washes and dresses bodies of deceased persons.
  • Changes bed linens, runs errands, directs visitors, and answers telephones.
  • Takes and records blood pressure, temperature, pulse and respiration rates, glucose levels, and food and liquid intake and output as directed. Reports unusual findings to nurse.
  • Assists with turning and repositioning patients as needed.
  • Reports to RN any abnormal vital signs, skin breakdown, decline in mentation or other observed changes,
  • Enters data into computer system.
  • Places telemetry electrodes accurately when ordered.
  • Collects urine and stool specimens for lab, runs guiac testing

What you will bring to the role:

  • Current Washington State Nursing Assistant Certification
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support Certification
  • 3 to 6 months previous CNA experience preferred
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. preferred
