Job description

Job Title: Weekend Production Operator

Job Description

In this role, you will routinely use molds and presses to produce first part and regular production parts efficiently and with minimal supervision. You will work on manufacturing assignments, following written procedures, where recognizing deviations from accepted practice is crucial. The position requires teamwork and the ability to collaborate well with co-workers.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate, and monitor calendering equipment to produce sheet, roll, or layered materials to exact specifications.
  • Ensure material quality, consistency, safety, and proper documentation within a production environment.
  • Monitor material flow to ensure uniformity, smoothness, and absence of defects.
  • Inspect materials using calipers, micrometers, and other precision instruments.
  • Perform routine machine maintenance, cleaning, and roll changes.
  • Read and interpret production orders, blueprints, and material specifications.
  • Document production data, including thickness readings, lot numbers, and quality checks.
  • Collaborate with quality inspectors and production supervisors to resolve material issues.
  • Follow all safety procedures, including lockout/tagout and PPE requirements.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Operate press machine to create parts with the use of molds.
  • Clean and prime parts with appropriate chemicals and solutions.
  • Measure stock to ensure correct thickness and length.
  • Place various materials by hand in molds, on the mandrel, or in the build fixture.
  • Weigh stock and scrap for salvage.
  • Monitor individual production for early defect detection.
  • Use production equipment and tools, such as calipers and scales, regularly.
  • Ensure materials handling recordkeeping is completed according to company and ISO standards.
  • Maintain work area free of safety hazards and clutter, including setup and cleanup at the start and end of the shift.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisory personnel.

Essential Skills

  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
  • Proficiency in reading a tape measure.
  • Use of hand tools to fabricate parts.
  • Mechanical aptitude.
