Fort Valley State University, the only 1890 land-grant university in Georgia, is a comprehensive institution that provides an education to over 2,800 students including graduate students. The candidate should have a background in photovoltaic installation, electrical grid interconnection and experience in reading & interpreting Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) records.MAJOR DUTIESPhotovoltaic installation & electrical connectivity Understanding of Utility grid interconnectivity Monitor photovoltaic system for performance issues Ability to assess SCADA monitoring & data collection Diagnose and repair photovoltaic system malfunctions Assist with reporting on project activities (virtual) Other duties as assigned. PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENTThe employee is frequently required to reach/operate with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds (assistance will be provided). Must be comfortable working around high-voltage systems.Specific vision abilities required by this job includes close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The employee must frequently stand or sit for extended periods and lift objects on occasions.WORKING CONDITIONS Work will take place at one solar demonstration site location. Workdays will take place on weekdays & occasional weekend (if maintenance is required) Working outdoors (under shed) in various climates, hot and cold - occasionallyMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSTechnical training in electrical technology, renewable energy systems and industrial maintenance Understanding of AC/DC power systems and high voltage systems Ability to read electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals Ability to use testing tools (e.g. multimeters).PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSNABCEP certification (e.g., PV Installation Professional) State Electrical License USG Core Values Statement The University System of Georgia is comprised of our 26 institutions of higher education and learning, as well as the System Office.
