Position Overview

We are seeking a Software QA Tester to support testing of a government enterprise application serving a motor vehicle services program. The application supports residents, businesses, and visitors through digital government services related to licensing and related processes. The QA Tester will test the application to meet project objectives and support new or expanding business requirements, including requirements review/analysis, test case creation, test case execution, and defect creation for new or updated software applications.

The candidate must have technical proficiency testing software applications along with proficiency in JIRA, and should be able to participate in the entire development lifecycle from design through deployment. Ability to perform requirements review, write test cases, automate test cases, execute test cases, and create defects is essential. The QA Tester will work in an Agile team environment to verify and validate that application requirements are covered and to improve internal and client-facing environments, working in a supportive, fast-paced team alongside development staff with opportunities for professional growth.

Key Responsibilities

•     Perform software application testing of customized solutions to support critical business functions and meet project objectives, client requirements, and organizational goals.

•     Write automated test scripts based on user stories and develop supporting test methodology.

•     Communicate with project management, clients, and developers to ensure effective collaboration throughout the testing phase.

•     Apply knowledge of database structures and schemas to validate test results.

•     Perform API testing and interpret wireframes (e.g., Figma/XD).

•     Maintain a flexible, proactive work approach to respond quickly to changing project requirements and objectives.

•     Interact directly with clients, managers, and end users to analyze project objectives and capability requirements, including specifications for user interfaces and customized applications.

•     Collaborate with development and operations teams to ensure the application supports functional and performance needs.

•     Develop test strategies, plans, and test cases (functional, automation, integration, regression).

•     Execute manual and automated tests, track defects, and ensure resolution with proper documentation.

•     Automate test cases using test automation frameworks and tools (e.g., Selenium, ACCELQ, or similar).

•     Collaborate with developers and business analysts to refine requirements and acceptance criteria.

•     Perform cross-browser and usability testing.

•     Participate in code reviews and provide feedback.

•     Document test results and maintain test artifacts.

•     Use defect tracking tools (e.g., JIRA) and manage the defect lifecycle.

•     Follow applicable government security standards.

Minimum Qualifications / Skills

•     Bachelor''s degree in computer science or related field.

•     8+ years of experience in software testing/QA.

•     Experience with test case management and defect tracking tools (JIRA).

•     Experience with test automation tools and frameworks (Selenium, ACCELQ, or similar).

•     Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC).

•     Experience working with version control.

•     Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

•     Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

•     Experience with test tools such as Micro Focus ALM (6+ years).

•     Experience with JIRA (6+ years).

•     Extensive experience testing reports (10+ years).

•     Strong SQL skills to query and validate table data for testing purposes (10+ years).

•     Experience adapting functional business requirements/processes to technical solutions based on enterprise application solution sets (6–10 years).

•     Experience with one or more of the following: investment analysis, data warehousing, e-commerce, ROI analysis, HR analysis, or information dissemination (6–10 years).

•     Bachelor''s degree in IT or related field, or equivalent experience.

Preferred / Desirable Qualifications

•     Security testing knowledge.

•     Experience with REST API and integration testing.

•     Experience with ERP management processes such as knowledge management, supply chain management, materials management, logistics, and procurement (10 years, highly desired).
