Job description

PTS is looking for a Senior Mechanical Designer with EPC experience help deliver projects within the power generation sector. In this role the Senior Mechanical Designer will work alongside key members of the team to include engineers and drafters to design additions and modifications to power generation facilities related to mechanical systems.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop and present detailed design models using AutoCAD Plant 3D, Inventor, SolidWorks, Revit, and/or Navisworks.
  • Prepare comprehensive drawing packages with tools such as AutoCAD, Plant 3D, and MicroStation.
  • Create and update Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), equipment layouts, piping plans/details, pipe support details, piping isometrics, and bills of materials.
  • Utilize laser scanning technology with Plant 3D, Navisworks, and Recap for project applications.
  • Conduct site walkdowns to gather detailed field information, document existing equipment configurations, and perform on-site laser scans.
  • Review and peer-check design packages developed by other team members.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to design team members and drafters.


Job Qualifications:

  • Engineering Technology Degree or Certification in drafting
  • 7+ years of experience in piping and plant design
  • Working knowledge of applicable industry codes to include ASME B31.1, ASME B31.3, NFPA, ANSI and API
  • Able to travel for project meetings and site visits
