Job description

The Georgia Department of Education's (GaDOE) - Georgia PINES in Clarkston, GA, is recruiting for an experienced Professional Education Worker with the working job title of Educational Interpreter Professional Development Coordinator. Under broad supervision, performs duties including but not limited to:

Description of Duties

  •        Create opportunities for GaPSC-licensed interpreters to maintain their licensure through high-quality, relevant, and accessible professional                 development
  •       Develop a structured pathway for provisionally credentialed interpreters to achieve full credentials by addressing specific skills and knowledge            gaps
  •      Ensure all interpreters are trained on current policies, ethical practices, and standards in education and interpreting
  •      Promote collaboration and community among interpreters, educators, and stakeholders within the state to create an inclusive and equitable                learning environment for Deaf and hard-of-hearing students
  •      Performs job responsibilities efficiently with limited direct supervision

       Other duties as assigned  

Preferred Qualifications 

Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess one or more of the following: 

  •      Hold current National RID/NAD certification (NIC, CI, or CI & CT) or pass the Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) at                   level 3.5 or higher
  •      Experience interpreting in an educational and work settings
  •       Experience providing ASL workshops and trainings
  •     Experience working with adult learners
  •      Computer literacy
  •       Understanding of and experience working with the Deaf community
  •       Flexibility in scheduling
  •       Valid Georgia Driver's License

Some travel may be required
