Job Summary

The Principal Software Architect will lead the design, development, and evolution of scalable enterprise platforms across supply chain and warehouse management systems, remaining personally hands-on in critical code paths while shaping architecture standards used by multiple engineering teams. Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Lead and mature the applicable solution architecture practice, setting standards and methodologies across all functional domains.
  • Define roadmaps and drive architecture strategy for cloud-native and microservices-based platforms.
  • Provide architectural oversight on major initiatives, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture goals and IT strategy.
  • Modernize legacy enterprise systems using state-of-the-art technology stacks.
  • Lead the technical evaluation and adoption of emerging technologies, including AI/ML-driven solutions.
  • Drive standardization and reusability of technology components and infrastructure.
  • Architect and prototype solutions to the organization’s most challenging technical problems, including production-critical debugging.
  • Partner with product, engineering, and infrastructure teams to align architecture with business goals.
  • Drive large-scale cloud migrations from on-premises infrastructure to AWS.
  • Mentor engineers and architects to raise the bar for technical execution across the organization.
  • Assist the Director in overseeing architectural design reviews and approving technical solutions across all major projects and platforms.
  • Architect multi-region system expansions with integrations across international subsidiaries.
  • Adopt AI tooling and techniques throughout the software development lifecycle (SDLC) to improve the productivity, efficiency, and quality of solutions.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership and communication skills.
QualificationsEducation Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field.
Education Preferred
  • Master’s degree in a relevant field.
Experience Required
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in software engineering, architecture, systems design, and technology leadership.
  • Deep experience with frontend, backend, and platform technologies and frameworks, including Java, Node.js, React.js, Angular, RDBMS, and related technologies.
  • Proven experience architecting and delivering enterprise-scale commercial applications and platforms, including cloud-native, microservices, and distributed systems.
  • Strong understanding of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, as well as modern software development methodologies, including Agile and DevOps.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into business-friendly language.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively across business and technology domains.
  • Ability to deep dive into complex technical problems and guide architects and technical leaders toward effective solutions.
  • Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and leadership skills.
Experience Preferred
  • Experience with AI-enabled SDLC practices and AI/ML technologies.
  • Exposure to warehouse platforms and supply chain technologies.
  • Experience with mobile technologies.
Licenses/Certifications Preferred
  • AWS or Azure Architect Certification.
  • CCA.
  • PMP.
  • Other relevant technical or project management certifications.
Technical Skills and Abilities
  • Backend engineering experience with Java and JavaScript.
  • Database engineering experience with RDBMS and NoSQL technologies.
  • Frontend engineering experience with React.js, Angular, Flutter, Android, iOS, or related technologies.
  • Experience designing microservices architectures and integration architectures using technologies such as Kafka.
  • Working knowledge of DevOps practices, including container orchestration and CI/CD.
  • Strong understanding of AI/ML integration architecture, development, and enterprise rollout considerations.
  • Expert knowledge of Oracle technologies, including PL/SQL, Forms, and WebLogic.
  • Expert knowledge of PostgreSQL databases.
