What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Weekend Insurance Review SLP, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Weekend Insurance Review Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP), you need a master's degree in speech-language pathology, SLP licensure, and a solid understanding of insurance documentation and clinical review processes. Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMRs), insurance verification platforms, and coding systems like ICD-10 and CPT is typically required. Strong written communication, attention to detail, and time management are crucial soft skills for effectively evaluating cases and meeting deadlines. These competencies ensure accurate insurance reviews, compliance with regulations, and optimal patient access to necessary speech therapy services.

The Weekend Insurance Review Slp primarily focuses on reviewing insurance policies and claims during weekend shifts, often requiring flexible hours and specific licensing. What is a Weekend Insurance Review SLP?

A Weekend Insurance Review SLP is a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) who reviews insurance cases or documentation during weekends. Their primary role is to assess and ensure that insurance paperwork and treatment plans for speech therapy services are accurate, up-to-date, and compliant with insurance requirements. This helps support timely approvals and continued care for clients, especially when regular administrative staff are unavailable. Weekend SLPs may work remotely or onsite to provide flexibility and continuous service coverage.

What are some typical challenges faced by a Weekend Insurance Review SLP, and how can they be managed?

Weekend Insurance Review SLPs often work independently to assess speech-language pathology service requests, ensuring compliance with insurance requirements in a time-sensitive environment. Common challenges include navigating complex insurance policies, handling a high volume of cases, and communicating effectively with off-site clinical teams. Staying organized, keeping current with insurance guidelines, and maintaining clear documentation are key strategies for managing these challenges. Strong collaboration with case managers and clinicians via digital communication tools is also essential for efficient case resolution.

Job description

Come join the fun!

If you're looking for somewhere that loves helping kids and families AND enjoys working with amazing colleagues, you've found the right place!

We are a growing pediatric private practice looking for a Speech Language Pathologist that is able to work independently. We have an excellent presence in the community and would love an SLP that is able to provide the highest quality services with confidence.

With 2 clinic locations, this position is set to be at our west Portland office.

About our practice:

We are a fun team of SLP's and OT's that love to work with kids! About half of the caseload is 0-5 early intervention and the other half is over 5 years old. We accept most insurances and private pay.

We are looking for a candidate that is: joyful, hard-working, compassionate, has excellent written and expressive communication skills, positive, creative thinker, shares constructive ideas and feedback, contributes to the team, and really wants to improve the lives of those around them. Our work here is very meaningful as we connect with those we help. We value continuing education and learning. Staff enjoy the flexibility of our schedules and learning from each other.

If you're interested in specialty training, we have several SLPs that have niche services offered and are open to mentoring peers. Check out our website to learn more!

Most patients will be in-clinic, some will be teletherapy.

Full time or part time available. We try to work with staff on what schedule would best meet their ideal scene. Our Clinical Manager talks with staff often about how their caseload is going. Each therapy department meets to review case studies and provide support and additional training.

Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions, we would like to be sure it is a good fit.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Evaluates the needs of children with speech or language disorders and provides written and verbal assessment results to the families. Meets with students weekly according to treatment program schedule, evaluates, and maintains records of child's progress.
  • Implements Plan of Care and provides weekly therapy sessions to child.
  • Reports progress to parents and meets with them regularly. Suggests activities parents can do with their child to assist and supplement the student's speech therapy program. Attempts to add to their understanding of the program and answers questions and addresses concerns they may have about it.
  • Conducts Re-evaluations on a annual basis to measure progress according to professional guidelines.
  • Talks with patients to determine their feelings about the program and their progress or any frustrations they may feel about therapy.
  • Keeps current with professional literature and attends continuing on a regular basis to maintain and update professional skills.
  • Reports directly to the Clinical Manager.
  • Completes all documentation in a timely manner and in compliance with clinic policies.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Hearing ability sufficient to evaluate student's speech.
  • Skill communicating verbally and in writing with students, faculty members, and parents so that all parties understand the program and the degree of progress being made.

Our team provides support in the community by offering in-service learning opportunities, educating our parents, and connecting with other community providers.
