Job description

The LPN is a non-exempt clinical position responsible for performing medical assisting duties in a healthcare setting, under the direction of a licensed clinician. The LPN provides clinical support services including but not limited to direct clinician support, patient care functions, and administrative tasks.

Role Responsibilities:

1. Processes incoming and outgoing calls/messages in a professional manner.

2. Performs patient intake, obtains necessary patient information to file and update patient records.

3. Ensure consents are reviewed and completed by clinician.

4. Performs pre-encounter prep prior to patients visit, including identifying open care gaps.

5. Supports and demonstrates effective and professional communication with patients, family members, visitors, and colleagues.

6. Gathers patient data through interview and observation.

7. Assists the clinician during medical treatments, examinations, and procedures.

8. Prepares patients for examination, performs and documents vital signs, and records patients' health history and medication reconciliation. 9. Assists with arranging laboratory and/or other ancillary testing.

10. Perform duties and skills consistent with a trained certified medical assistant/registered medical assistant/nurse.

11. Prepares and sanitizes equipment, examination rooms and instruments.

12. Manages inventory of medical supplies and equips exam rooms with appropriate supplies.

13. Embraces and participates in quality initiatives, goal attainment, and collaborates on clinical process improvement activities.

14. Provides routine treatments and administers approved medication per clinician order within scope.

15. Documents patient data, treatments, procedures, and patient education per organizational policies.

16. Assists the clinician by acting as a liaison on behalf of the patient to schedule appointments; provides patient with scheduling information to obtain testing, and/or clinician consultation.

17. Maintains compliance with all policies and procedures.

18. Demonstrates competency in specific tasks and skills as defined annually.

19. Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Active and unrestricted LPN license in the state of Florida. Certification, registration, or license must be current or must obtain initial certification, recertification, updated registration, or license with 90 days of employment.
  • CPR/BLS Healthcare Provider Certification within 90 days of employment.
  • Assumes responsibility for professional development and continuing education.

Preferred Qualifications

  • IV Certification
  • Experience working within a healthcare setting

Annual Requirements:

  • Must maintain current license, certification, or registration.
  • Must complete required CEUs for licensure/certification
  • Must maintain current BLS certification.
  • EMR and clinical competencies completed and signed as assigned.

Additional Information:

This role is considered patient facing and is part of Humana's Tuberculosis (TB) screening program. If selected for this role, you will be required to be screened for TB.

This role is part of Humana's Driver safety program and therefore requires an individual to have a valid state driver's license and proof of personal vehicle liability insurance with at least 100,000/300,000/100,000 limits.

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.
