Job description

General Summary:
The Molecular Cardiology Research Institute at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, invites post-doctoral applications for a position to study wound healing in the laboratory of Dr. Lakshmi Pulakat. A highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Fellow is sought, ideally with prior experience in pharmacology or toxicology, to
develop novel, translational therapies for expedited healing of ulcers and preventing recurrence.
The Pulakat laboratory studies basic signaling mechanisms that expedite healing of obesity and diabetes induced non-healing ulcers and develop new therapies for their expedited healing. The successful applicant will work closely with the Principal Investigator to address clinically relevant questions in chronic, non-healing ulcer, pain regulation pathways, and utilize molecular biology, biochemistry and physiology to study chronic wound healing in rat models and ex vivo pig and human skin. Prior experience with rat models, behavioral studies, pain pathways and a willingness to learn to perform therapeutic technologies using rats and ex vivo tissues is essential.
The successful applicant will work closely with the Principal Investigator on research projects and as needed, will be required to independently develop protocols and establish new methodologies in the laboratory. The applicant would be intimately involved in writing and presenting new discoveries.
