We are on the lookout for outstanding medical professionals who desire a meaningful career while maintaining a fulfilling personal life. Join our expanding program to make a significant difference in a grateful community without sacrificing family time. Additionally, you won’t be burdened by unrealistic productivity expectations. Our medical team consists of highly trained physicians from diverse backgrounds who have chosen to stay here, as the quality of life and work is exceptional. They find their careers rewarding and ever-evolving, practicing top-tier medicine while being part of a community that appreciates their contributions to patient care.

About the Position

Our Heart & Vascular Institute is looking for a full-time, general, non-invasive cardiologist to join our growing team in 2026 or 2027. The selected candidate will receive a clinical academic appointment and will provide both inpatient and outpatient services at our UPMC Jameson and/or UPMC Horizon facilities.

Responsibilities include:

  • Conducting inpatient cardiology consultations
  • Providing critical care services
  • Analyzing ECGs
  • Interpreting transthoracic echocardiograms
  • Performing and interpreting transesophageal echocardiograms and cardiac nuclear studies
  • Teaching opportunities available

These tasks will be shared in a weekly rotation with other cardiologists in the practice, and weekend coverage will be on a 1:4 basis.

About the Practice

The Heart & Vascular Institute at UPMC Jameson and UPMC Horizon currently consists of four full-time cardiologists (two interventionalists and two non-invasive cardiologists, with plans to expand to six). Additionally, there are ten APPs serving two suburban regions near Pittsburgh. Alongside these full-time providers, part-time services are offered by four electrophysiologists (including a pacemaker clinic), a heart failure specialist, three vascular surgeons, one thoracic surgeon, and one cardiothoracic surgeon. The outpatient office in New Castle is located within UPMC Jameson and offers a comprehensive range of diagnostic services, including two catheterization labs. HVI Horizon-Greenville is situated within UPMC Horizon Greenville hospital, while HVI Horizon-Shenango is located directly across from UPMC Horizon Shenango Valley hospital.

About Our Community

Residents can choose to live in or near the metropolitan area of Pittsburgh (e.g., Cranberry Township) and commute to work, or settle in one of the charming suburban neighborhoods surrounding UPMC Jameson and UPMC Horizon. The hospitals are set in the picturesque rolling hills of Lawrence and Mercer counties, close to lakes and several cities/airports. Our region offers the best of both worlds—beautiful suburban and small-town living in safe, affordable, family-friendly neighborhoods, while remaining conveniently close to Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Erie, and Youngstown via several major highways. Our communities feature award-winning schools, affordable housing, and a wealth of recreational and cultural activities, all rooted in a "blue-collar" ethos that has evolved from our history as a steel town into a modern family-friendly environment. Housing options range from typical rentals and ownership to a unique variety of affordable neighborhoods, including charming college towns, larger suburban areas, and rural settings with ample land. Numerous recreational and cultural offerings abound, including local and state parks, fitness centers, symphonies, hiking and biking trails, sports facilities, golfing, skiing, museums, live music venues, community and professional theater, and even skydiving! Known as the "Lakeland Area," there are various waterways for fishing, sailing, and swimming, from expansive state parks to rivers accessible via kayak or canoe. Shopping options include one of the largest outlet malls in the country, along with numerous national chain stores and unique local boutiques. Our region truly has something for everyone!

Collaboration Between UPMC Horizon and UPMC Jameson

UPMC Horizon and UPMC Jameson are neighboring community teaching hospitals with a long-standing tradition of serving their communities for over a century. They joined forces in 2016 to enhance regional care for residents in Mercer and Lawrence counties in western Pennsylvania. Both hospitals are integral parts of the extensive, nationally recognized UPMC network, which has consistently been featured on the U.S. News and World Report's Honor Roll of America's Best Hospitals for over a decade. UPMC Horizon and UPMC Jameson collectively offer nearly 200 beds across three hospital facilities located in Greenville, the Shenango Valley, and New Castle, along with multiple outpatient and primary care facilities throughout the seven-county region of northwestern Pennsylvania and northeastern Ohio.

What We Offer

  • A supportive team of APPs and staff to help you focus on patient care rather than administrative tasks.
