Summary of PRN/Flexible Schedule (As Needed): Looking for a flexible, rewarding opportunity where every trip matters? Become a PRN Transportation Driver!Schedule: PRN (As Needed) – Flexible Hours with competitive hourly pay; paid every 2 weeks/FridaysWhat Does PRN Mean?As a PRN driver, you won’t be scheduled for regular shifts—instead, you’ll be called in or scheduled only when needed. This could include covering shifts due to high demand, staff absences, or special transportation requests. It’s a perfect fit for individuals who need schedule flexibility or want to supplement other income.
Additional Details:• PRN position – hours would be “on call/as needed”. Typically a 1-2 days notice for additional help on a specific day (during daytime hours). Hours can vary each time, most busy times are 8:00 am - 12:00 pm. Occasional help in the afternoons.• Evening and weekend help - calendars are made a month out for these events, so you may have notice weeks in advance.
• Longer coverage needs for PRN driver - known teammate vacations/leaves.• No guaranteed weekly hours; however it is typical to have hours each month due to the variety of requests and activities that occur in our busy senior community.• Ideal candidates could be retirees, students, part-time workers, or anyone looking for extra hours. And are available with short notice for days and some evening/weekend events monthly. ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
• Flexible availability
• Model a service attitude towards others, takes ownership in solving problems and takes the initiative to make things better, is friendly and courteous to residents, patients, visitors, and co-workers
• Ensure resident/patient, visitor, and co-worker safety by remaining aware of and reporting any new or existing safety hazards
• Maintain good attendance record
• Assist with record keeping of resident appointment and/or office errands
• Review daily schedule with supervisor and discuss any scheduling problems and/or conflicts
• Drive van or bus to deliver and pick-up residents to and from appointments through the city
• Complete errands as assigned by supervisor, such as bank, post office, office supplies, having keys made, hardware store, etc.
• Alert appropriate personnel regarding routine maintenance schedules: oil changes, inspections, tag renewal, changing digital clocks, etc.
• Notify Director of Transportation of any problems with schedule, residents and/or vehicles
• Provide other transportation services as required, i.e. employee injuries, miscellaneous deliveries
• Other duties as assigned by Director of Residential and Community ServicesMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• High school graduate/GED required
• Current Texas Driver’s License in good standing; CDL is preferred but not required • One or more years driving required; passenger driving and working with the elderly is a plus• Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in English• Safe driving record with Texas Department of Public Safety; no convictions: DUI, DWI, blood/breath test refusals; no serious traffic violations: speeding 15 miles over speed limit, reckless driving, fatal accident
• Ability to read maps, use GPS, and have good knowledge of Dallas and surrounding areas
• Ability to communicate with residents with concern and compassion
• Ability to adjust to changing situations and priorities (additions to planned schedule, multiple interruptions, etc.) and work under stress
