Job description

Madden's is an award-winning resort, located on more than 1,000 acres, that anticipates the wishes and desires of vacationers and offers them fantastic golf, upscale dining, lakeside spa, tennis, activity programs for children, biking, shopping, and art gallery with painting classes and almost every kind of on-the-water recreation possible in Minnesota, including fishing. Madden’s is currently seeking Seasonal Golf & Grounds Maintenance Team Member who will be involved in all aspects of the grounds and landscaping for Maddens on Gull.

  • Perform general golf course, turf, landscaping, and resort grounds maintenance using hand tools and powered equipment.
  • Operate walking and riding mowing equipment, including greens mowers, tee mowers, fairway units, rough mowers, and commercial-grade zero-turn mowers.
  • Operate Toro, John Deere, EZ-GO, and other utility vehicles and equipment as assigned.
  • Mow and maintain turf areas throughout the golf course and resort grounds.
  • Perform detailed turf and grounds work including string trimming, edging, blowing, debris cleanup, and general property maintenance.
  • Maintain golf course bunkers to established standards, including raking and presentation.
  • Assist with daily golf course setup, including cup cutting, tee marker placement, and other presentation duties.
  • Pick up trash and debris throughout designated resort areas, including roads, parking lots, turf areas, and other common spaces.
  • Assist with beach maintenance, including removal of weeds, dead fish, and other debris as needed.
  • Pull weeds and maintain flower beds, gardens, landscaped areas, and other ornamental plantings.
  • Assist with hand watering, irrigation support, and identification and reporting of landscape or irrigation problems.
  • Participate in turf cultural practices including aerification, topdressing, sod installation, plugging

Skills and Abilities:

  • Communications skills should be at a level where employees can converse with guests and other employees.
  • Ability to work in a team and coordinate work functions with fellow workers.

Education/Experience:

Valid driver’s license required.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position does not require any supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment:

Work is performed mainly outside on golf courses or in a maintenance shop. Occasionally works near moving mechanical parts, fumes and airborne particles.

Physical Demands:

Primarily walking or standing for prolonged periods of time. Must have the ability to stand, walk, talk/hear, both in person and by telephone, occasionally required to stoop, kneel, bend, crouch and lift up to 50-pound boxes and sometimes up to 100 pounds.

Travel:

Less than 10% travel required.
