Job description

Egypt Valley Country Club, West Michigan's premier private club, is seeking a passionate and creative Assistant Pastry Chef to join our culinary team. This position offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment producing desserts and baked goods for daily dining service, weddings, golf outings, wine dinners, member events, and banquets.

If you enjoy baking, decorating, and bringing new ideas to life while working alongside a supportive team, we'd love to hear from you.

Position Overview

The Assistant Pastry Chef supports the daily production of pastries and desserts while helping maintain high standards of quality, presentation, and consistency. This role also provides opportunities to contribute to menu development and explore new techniques and creative ideas in a professional kitchen environment.

  • Basic bread-making knowledge and preparation skills
  • Familiarity with foundational French pastry techniques
  • Knowledge of seasonal fruits and ingredients
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to take direction while remaining eager to learn new skills and techniques
  • Creative mindset with a passion for developing new ideas
  • Dependable work ethic and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment

Work Schedule

This position offers flexibility whenever possible, with scheduling designed around club events and production needs. Because the pastry department operates as a small team, schedules may vary throughout the season.

  • Saturday availability is required
  • Most Sundays are not required
  • Consecutive days off are prioritized whenever possible
  • Occasional extended shifts may occur during special events such as wine dinners or chef's tables
  • Time off requests are accommodated whenever they do not conflict with the club's event calendar

About Our Kitchen
