Sr. Floral Designer

Reports to: Floral Manager
Schedule: Flexible availability including weekends, evenings, and holidays based on event schedules.
Accountabilities:
  • Design, arrange, and oversee floral production to align with event concepts and client expectations.
  • Supervise multiple event setups, ensuring quality control, consistency, and adherence to design standards.
  • Collaborate with the sales team on floral aesthetics, color palettes, and feasibility for proposals.
  • Train and mentor Junior Designers and support staff, providing hands-on guidance in floral techniques.
  • Adjust floral designs as needed to stay within labor and material budgets while maintaining design integrity.
  • Load and transport floral elements, ensuring all necessary materials are packed for each event.
  • Oversee floral setup at event sites, ensuring seamless execution of floral designs.
  • Lead on-site floral installations, making necessary adjustments on-site to meet design expectations and client needs.
  • Communicate with the Event Manager and Floral Manager about any challenges during installation.
  • Conduct a final walkthrough to confirm all floral elements are properly placed before leaving.
  • Arrive at scheduled strike times to break down and properly pack all floral elements.
  • Verify all rental items, including linens, are counted and returned as per inventory records.
  • Report any missing or damaged items to the Floral Manager after each event.
  • Clear carts, restock supplies, and process salvageable florals from past events.
  • Oversee cooler cleaning and proper disposal or repurposing of floral materials.
  • Maintain a clean, organized floral workspace, ensuring all tools and materials are properly stocked.
  • Manage the intake and preparation of fresh florals, ensuring product accuracy and quality before use.
  • Process fresh floral orders, reviewing invoices and proposals for accuracy before cutting.
  • Design, pull, pack, and prepare floral materials for upcoming events.
  • Oversee Junior Designers and support staff during floral production.
  • Communicate with the Floral Manager about any supply shortages or design adjustments.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • 5+ years of experience in floral design and event floral production.
  • Strong knowledge of floral design techniques, arrangement mechanics, and industry trends.
  • Proven experience supervising and mentoring floral team members.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with sales and production teams.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience with floral budgeting, cost analysis, and recipe creation.
  • Ability to thrive in a deadline-driven, fast-paced environment.
  • Passion for floral innovation and commitment to design excellence.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Frequent lifting, carrying, and moving of floral materials and event décor (up to 50 lbs.)
  • Handling, trimming, and arranging floral products with precision and attention to detail.
  • Weekends, evening, and holiday availability based on event schedules.
  • Must be comfortable with heights and working on ladders; up to 25’.
