Job Summary

The work of a Ramp Agent includes the following: loading and unloading of cargo (mail, express, freight, and company material) on and off aircraft; the transporting of cargo between terminals and aircraft; the ramp transfers of cargo where required; the receiving, delivering, and physical handling of freight and company material, export at the designated express docks, mail .the completion of forms and messages related to and necessary for the performance of the designated locations of the functions described. Transporting such furnishings and supplies to and from aircraft.  Assisting in loading, unloading and racking both filled and empty drums. push out/two aircraft and related guide man functions; connect/remove ground power and ground start units.  May be assigned to perform routine cleaning of work areas, ramps, and facilities with or without powered equipment.  May be assigned to assist in monitoring security of facility.  Comply with WFS site security procedures for assigned warehouse and other operations.  Remain cognizant of WFS staff, security contractors, and visitors' activities and report security breaches, suspicious occurrences, or non-compliance with the site security plan to managers or via the WFS whistleblower program.

Responsibilities
  • Marshall aircraft upon arrival and departure.
  • Load and unload cargo on and off aircraft.
  • Safely drive and operate ground support equipment, including belt loaders, tugs, carts to pick up and deliver cargo between the terminal, warehouse and aircraft.
  • Sort and load cargo.  
  • Perform ground service functions, such as connecting/removing ground power and ground start units and water service.
  • Perform aircraft push back, wing walking and related guide man functions.  
  • Maintain a secure work environment.
Minimum Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Ability to lift and handle heavy baggage and cargo (up to 50 lbs or more)
  • Valid Driver's license, must be maintained throughout employment in this role
  • Strong communication skills for coordinating with team members and flight crews
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends, holidays, and nights
  • Basic mechanical aptitude for operating ground support equipment
  • Ability to pass background checks and comply with airport security regulations
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to safety protocols
  • Fluently read, write, and speak the Engish language

**This job is covered by a collective bargaining agreement of the Transport Workers Union (TWU), a labor union which requires joining the TWU and paying union dues.** 

Preferred Skills
  • Ability to read, write, fluently speak and understand the English language.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts including weekends (i.e., Friday, Saturday and Sunday), holidays, and days off.
  • Ability to successfully communicate with others.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
  • Ability to lift up to 70 lbs.
  • Ability to work in inclement weather.
