POSITION SPECIFICS
Title: Maintenance/Carpenter
FTE: 1.0 FTE
Schedule: Monday-Friday 7:00AM-3:30PM or Four weekdays from 5:30AM-4:00PM
Holiday Rotation: No
Weekend Rotation: No
On Call Requirements: Yes 1 out of every 6 weeks
POSITION SUMMARY
Perform general carpentry and construction activities at Sauk Prairie Healthcare facilities. The position maintains and enhances the appearance, functionality, and overall condition of Sauk Prairie Healthcare facilities through a structured building interior and exterior refresh program. Completes additional carpentry and construction activities to support Sauk Prairie Healthcare operations at all facilities. Performs additional basic maintenance and repair of general hospital mechanical as needed. Supports the department and facilities in the areas of on-call reliability, security response and 24/7 emergency coverage.
POSITION TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Effectively identify, remove or replace components of the following systems that have become old, worn, damaged, broken or missing. All work must be done in compliance with Federal/State/OSHA Laws, Rules & regulations and in accordance to Sauk Prairie Healthcare policy and procedures.
  • In accordance with blueprints, drawings/sketches, schematics, written specifications etc. Perform carpentry work in accordance to practices and procedures consistent with the carpentry trade.
  • Installation of temporary barriers for dust, noise, etc. Removal and proper disposal of existing systems etc.
  • Install casework/shelving units, countertops, open shelves, custom units, furniture, tables, desks etc.
  • Install and finish drywall acoustical ceilings etc.
  • Installation or repair of doors and door protection and locking devices.
  • Repair drywall imperfections in accordance with ACHC code requirements.
  • Preform painting and touch up painting as needed.
  • Design and construct custom casework and building structures as needed.
  • Repair flooring defects or consult for flooring replacement.
  • Assist in operation and maintenance the following SPH systems:
    • heating hot water and domestic hot water boiler
    • computerized energy management system
    • fire protection systems
    • emergency generators
    • major air handling systems.
    • direct expansion and chilled water-cooling systems
    • medical and control air compressors and air dryers
    • main vacuum system and back-up vacuum system
    • plumbing systems, including thread pipe, sweat copper piping, pumps, etc.
  • Preform all duties of the Maintenance Mechanic position as needed.
  • Participate in Facilities on-call rotation.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Education:
  • Required: High school degree or equivalent
  • Preferred: Two years of technical or trade school

Experience:
  • Required: None
  • Preferred: General carpentry experience.

Licenses and Registrations:
  • Required: Valid State of Wisconsin driver's license. A clean driving record is one with no more than one moving violation in the past three years
  • Preferred: None

Certification(s):
  • Required: None
  • Preferred: Journeyman level certification or verified equivalent experience in building trades
