Summary
This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the This position will be assigned to the Fitness Center at JBSA Fort Sam Houston located in San Antonio, TX.
This is a Regular Full-Time category position with guaranteed 40 hrs. per week. Employees appointed to a Regular category position are eligible for benefits.

Duties
Help
Prepares sports and recreation fields for intramural sports and other fitness center sponsored sports/recreation events. This will include mowing, trimming, chalking, raking, dragging, or preparation activities. All needed equipment will be examined to ensure it is in good working order before placing in the event set up area. Set-up, tear-down, and safely store equipment for all requested events. Powered and non-powered equipment will be used to maintain field turf and non-turf surfaces. Minor repairs to field maintenance equipment and fitness machines will be required. Coordinates major repairs through warranties or qualified repair companies. May be required to supplement fitness center staff with verification of patron eligibility, cleaning, and repair/maintenance of fitness equipment. May serve as the Vehicle Control Officer. Other related duties may be assigned.

  • This position requires the incumbent to complete a background investigation with favorable results.
  • This position requires the incumbent to have resided in the United States for 3 years and reside in the commuting area of the vacancy location.
  • This position has been identified as a Test Designated Position (TDP). The incumbent of this position will be subject to and must consent to a pre-employment and random drug testing.
  • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
  • This position has physical lifting requirement which requires the incumbent to complete a favorable pre-employment physical. Must be able to lift objects weighing up to 75 lbs.
  • Must be able to operate a motor vehicle. Must have a valid driver's license.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.
Qualifying Experience:
Education or experience in the use of equipment used in common intramural programs; education or experience that enables safe and effective use maintenance and repair of field and turf equipment; and ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally are required. Recreational background in fitness/ leisure activities is desired.
