Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Fiber Optic Blower is responsible for installing fiber optic cable through conduits using specialized blowing equipment. This role involves preparing job sites, handling fiber reels, operating fiber blowing machines, and ensuring that all installations meet project and safety standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Operate fiber optic cable blowing equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Prepare job sites, including setting up conduit paths, assisting with pulling tapes, and verifying duct integrity.
  • Load and unload fiber reels, monitor blowing progress, and ensure correct cable placement.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting of fiber optic cable and equipment issues.
  • Maintain accurate records of footage installed, materials used, and work completed.
  • Follow all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and traffic control procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with the Foreman, crew members, and supervisors regarding job status and issues.
  • Assist with cleanup and restoration of the worksite upon completion.
  • All other duties as required.
Qualifications
  • 1+ year of experience in fiber optic installation or utility construction preferred. 
  • Familiarity with fiber blowing machines and basic fiber handling practices.
  • Ability to read and follow job prints, maps, and specifications.
  • Strong attention to detail and safety awareness.
  • Safety-conscious.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Stand, bend, and operate equipment for extended periods.
  • Flexible schedule, with hours of day and days of week.

Additional Information

Pay range: $21-$25/hr. DOE
