Job description

Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Heavy Diesel Mechanic to join our team in maintaining and repairing a wide range of heavy-duty equipment and vehicles. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical knowledge, experience with diesel engines, and the ability to diagnose and resolve complex mechanical issues efficiently. This role offers an opportunity to work with diverse machinery, including farm equipment, industrial machinery, and commercial trucks, ensuring optimal performance and safety across operations.

Duties

  • Perform diagnostics and repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, air brakes, hydraulics, suspension systems, and HVAC components.

  • Conduct routine maintenance such as oil changes, tire service, brake repairs, shocks & struts, wheel alignments, and general vehicle servicing.

  • Utilize schematics and technical manuals to troubleshoot electrical systems, wiring, and electronic controls.

  • Operate hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and perform fabrication tasks as needed for repairs or modifications.

  • Repair or replace heavy equipment components including excavators, cranes, forklifts, tractors, trailers, and farm machinery.

  • Conduct assembly and disassembly of machinery parts ensuring proper fitment and function.

  • Maintain detailed service records and ensure all repairs meet safety standards and manufacturer specifications.

  • Assist in the repair of industrial equipment and perform preventive maintenance to minimize downtime.

  • Support customer service efforts by providing technical advice and ensuring high-quality workmanship.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Heavy Diesel Mechanic with dealership or industrial repair background preferred.

  • Strong mechanical knowledge with expertise in diesel engine repair, transmissions, hydraulics, air brakes, suspension systems, HVAC systems, and welding.

  • Experience working with heavy equipment such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, tractors-trailers, farm machinery, and other industrial machinery.

  • Ability to read schematics and technical manuals for troubleshooting electrical and mechanical systems.

  • Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, welding equipment (including soldering), and fabrication techniques.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on safety compliance and quality assurance.

  • Physical ability to lift heavy loads regularly and perform manual labor involving heavy lifting.
