Job description

Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN)

The OR Registered Nurse provides high-quality, patient-centered surgical care in a fast-paced operating room environment. This role is responsible for patient preparation, intraoperative support, and post-procedure documentation while collaborating with an interdisciplinary surgical team. The OR RN plays a critical role in ensuring patient safety, adherence to surgical protocols, and efficient workflow throughout the perioperative process.

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate patients prior to surgery and assess readiness for procedures
  • Educate patients and families on surgical procedures and perioperative expectations
  • Prepare patients for surgery, including IV therapy, medication administration, and site verification
  • Participate in surgical safety protocols including time-outs, briefings, and debriefings
  • Assist during surgical procedures as a scrub and/or circulating nurse
  • Monitor patient status during procedures and respond to emergencies as needed
  • Deliver safe, evidence-based nursing care and ensure adherence to best practices
  • Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, surgical techs, and interdisciplinary team members
  • Document patient conditions, care provided, and any changes throughout the surgical process
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and workflow efficiency in the OR

Requirements:

  • Minimum 1+ year of recent OR RN experience (scrub and/or circulating required)
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license required
  • Diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing required
  • BLS certification required within 30 days of hire
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced surgical environment

Schedule:

  • Days: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
  • Nights: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
