Saint Michael's College invites applications forthe Assistant Director of Alumni and Family Engagement. The College isseekinga qualified and experienced individual to help build meaningful connections with alumni, families, and students through engaging events, volunteer programs, communications, and fundraising initiatives. This dynamic role leads signature programs such as Alumni & Family Weekend, Reunion, Career Symposium, and regional alumni events while strengthening engagement through marketing, social media, and relationship management. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with strong event planning, communication, and volunteer management skills who is passionate about advancing the College's mission of "Do Well and Do Good."

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

PROGRAM AND EVENT MANAGEMENT

  • Create, plan, and execute a robust program and events (on and off campus) calendar, designed to engage alumni, parents, and students in the life of the College
  • Work in tandem, and at the direction of, the Director for Alumni and Family Engagement to engage, support, and expand SMC regional clubs nationwide.
  • Collaborate with campus partners to create mutually beneficial events for increased alumni and family engagement
  • Manage guest lists and marketing to alumni for club events
  • Take an active lead in the creation and execution of signature annual events including Alumni & Family Weekend, Reunion, and Career Symposium
  • Own all aspects of Alumni & Family Weekend, collaborating with campus partners to create a robust weekend event schedule
  • Lead execution of select Reunion events, Purple and Gold Day, Career Symposium and others as assigned
  • Support campus partner's alumni programming and events as needed
  • Full cycle event management:
  • Creation and management of event marketing campaigns (emails, calls, social media, website updates).
  • Onsite attendee engagement
  • On-site staff POC for regional and on-campus events, or partnership and support of local event hosts.
  • Post-event follow-up

COMMUNICATIONS AND MARKETING

  • Forge and maintain relationships with alumni, families, and students by acting as a main point of contact at the College
  • POC for the Saint Michaels College Hub (powered by Campus ESP)
  • Create event and programming emails
  • Develop a social media strategy for alumni constituents and create content (multiple times/ week) for event promotion, campus news, and updates
  • Management of multiple office email inboxes, responding to alumni and family requests via email, as well as ad hoc calls/ voicemail
  • Content contributor of the Advancement website, in partnership with Marketing & Communications.
  • Exposure to and partnership with key campus contacts including Athletics, Academic Affairs, Admissions, Career Education, the President's Office, and Student Activities.

VOLUNTEER MANAGEMENT

  • Recruit alumni and parent volunteers to support career-related events, admissions support, fundraising, regional club volunteers, and alumni board membership.
  • Develop individualized engagement strategies as needed
  • Review class and regional alumni records to identify and recruit volunteers to participate in campus programming and leadership roles
  • Recruit and guide alumni leaders as volunteers in celebration of milestone reunion programming, with a focus on reaching class-specific reunion fundraising goals
  • Travel regularly to recruit, manage and steward volunteers
  • Track constituent engagement and contact detail updates in our database.
  • Serve as advisor for student-run Founders Society; educate current students to become engaged, active, and philanthropic alumni
  • Work with supervisor to engage and manage the Alumni Board of Directors; including management of 4 in-person meetings a year

FUNDRAISING

  • Educate constituents on the importance of financial participation in the College's Annual Fund, supporting the student experience and institutional goals.
  • Collaborate with the Institutional Advancement team to meet College campaign and fiscal year giving goals by engaging with existing and new alumni donors.
  • Qualification and solicitation of prospects, in partnership with Development Officers.
  • Working with Director, outline a fundraising strategy for a targeted pool of young alumni; cultivating existing donors and identifying new prospects through visits and engagement opportunities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Previous work experience with volunteers and event planning preferred
  • The ability to make thoughtful and diplomatic decisions to resolve complicated interpersonal situations
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook, and exposure to relational databases required.
  • Proficiency in social media, and on-line marketing required
  • Proficiency in photoshop and graphic design preferred
  • Proficiency in Fundraising Databases - Raiser's Edge Experience preferred
  • Must meet driver's eligibility requirements as stated in the Saint Michael's College Vehicle Use Policy
