Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced travel RN for a PCU Float position requiring a minimum of 2 years of experience, travel experience, and an alternating 36/48-hour weekly schedule on nights.

Details
  • Community hospital PCU Float position, primarily supporting the Med/Surg unit
  • Patient population includes telemetry, cardiac, neurological, genitourinary/renal, and general med/surg cases
  • Patient ratio of 1:5
  • Night shift, 7pโ€“7a, on an alternating 36/48-hour weekly schedule (3x12 or 4x12 nights); straight 48s may be considered
  • Weekend availability required, which may include most weekends during the contract; block scheduling may be accommodated but set schedules are not available
  • Floating is required as a core expectation of this role
  • Epic EMR experience strongly preferred and required for this position
  • 13-week contract
Requirements
  • Active TX RN license or a Compact RN license currently in hand prior to start
  • Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required โ€” this requirement is firm
  • Prior travel nursing experience required
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Strong IV therapy skills required, including peripheral line care, central line management, PICC line management, port access, and phlebotomy
  • Experience with respiratory management including BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, tracheostomy care, and ABG interpretation
  • Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and telemetry (unit and remote)
  • Experience managing cardiac and vasoactive drips, including titration
  • 2 supervisor references from within the last 3 years required for consideration
  • SSN required for consideration
Additional Information
  • Candidate must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates are not accepted
  • The facility conducts its own drug screen upon arrival, which includes marijuana โ€” a positive result is an automatic cancellation with no exceptions; candidates should avoid any substances that could cause a positive result, including CBD products, even after completing pre-placement drug screening
  • Charge nurse experience is preferred
  • Responsibilities include management of patients with CVA, seizure disorders, TBI, substance withdrawal, renal failure, post-cardiac procedures, and surgical/wound care needs
  • Epidural analgesia, PCA, and thrombolytic agent experience is preferred
  • Modules are completed during orientation and average 2โ€“3 hours
