Job description

The primary responsibility of the is a skilled hands-on food packaging position responsible for ensuring the correct set-up and operation of equipment used to pack dried pasta according to customer specifications. Your knowledge of production equipment as well as proactively monitoring your equipment and line to prevent production slow downs or shut downs.

Work Location: 20-01 Broadway; Fair Lawn, N.J. 07410
Benefits: Based on Union Contract Provisions
Salary, based on experience and other qualifications: $21.27per hour. Shift differential paid based upon Union Contract Provisions.
Essential Functions:
  • Ensure totes are set-up correctly based on parameter specifications.
  • Stage packaging materials for use including pallets, slip sheets, totes and lids, liners, etc. to meet production requirements.
  • Weight, label, and band finished totes.
  • Ensure adherence to applicable quality and manufacturing standards.
  • Operate all manufacturing equipment efficiently and safely.
  • Print product labels and enter finished totes into the ERP system.
  • Use forklifts and other PIV equipment to transport packaging materials to the work area and finished totes to the warehouse.
  • Responsible for safety and product quality throughout the tote filling work area.
  • Maintain a clean work area during the shift through good housekeeping practices.
  • Assist in product changeovers as needed during the shift.
  • Responsible for keeping thorough and accurate records of production data by completing all daily paperwork.
  • Determine if product meets parameter specifications or not and take corrective action as needed.
  • Rotate to different positions during the shift.
  • Expected to adhere to safe work practices, follow GMP and HACCP guidelines, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained in order to maintain BRC Global Standards certification.
  • Immediately Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality or personnel safety.
  • Performs other duties as required by Foreman/Supervisor or Manager.

Essential Requirements:
  • Must be able to lift, bend, twist and carry up to 50 pounds frequently.
  • Must be able to climb stairs.
  • Must be able to perform all tasks in an environment with high heat (90 degrees F or greater) and humidity during the 8-hour shift.
  • Must be able to stand on concrete floors for up to 8 hours.
  • Must be detail oriented and able to record numeric information accurately.
  • Must be able to perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Prompt and regular attendance required.
  • Must be able to work six days, including weekends and holidays.
  • Must be able to work in high dust and noise area and be able to tolerate high heat and humidity
  • Must be able to walk on concrete floors and climb stairs occasionally
  • Must possess knowledge of the use of basis tools

Education
  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
