Job description

Position Summary

The Panel Shop Electrical Inspector is responsible for ensuring all industrial control panels are manufactured, inspected, tested, and documented in accordance with UL 508A Standard for Industrial Control Panels, NEC, customer specifications, engineering drawings, and company quality standards.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct final inspections of industrial control panels to verify compliance with UL 508A requirements.
  • Verify the use of UL-recognized and UL-listed components as required by UL 508A.
  • Confirm compliance with SCCR requirements and documentation.
  • Verify proper wire sizing, conductor routing, spacing, overcurrent protection, and component installation per UL 508A and NEC.
  • Inspect panel construction, grounding, bonding, labeling, and nameplate requirements.
  • Perform and document required electrical testing.
  • Maintain inspection records required for UL audits.
  • Support UL field representative inspections and audits.


Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in industrial control panel manufacturing, inspection, or electrical assembly.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of UL 508A Industrial Control Panel Standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.


Preferred Qualifications

  • UL 508A training or certification.
  • Journeyman Electrician license or equivalent experience.
  • Experience supporting UL audits.


Certification Requirement

  • The individual occupying this position shall be recognized by the company as a Qualified UL 508A Inspector and maintain current knowledge of UL 508A requirements through continuing education, internal training, UL publications, and applicable code updates.


Position Summary

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and reach for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and 25 pounds frequently.
  • Ability to distinguish wire colors, labels, and indicators accurately.
  • Ability to wear required PPE, including arc-flash PPE when required.
  • Ability to work around energized equipment in accordance with NFPA 70E and company safety policies.
  • Ability to use computers and electronic devices for inspection documentation.


Working Conditions

  • Manufacturing and panel shop environment.
  • Exposure to electrical equipment, industrial machinery, noise, and dust.
  • Occasional overtime and weekend work may be required.
