Job description

Summary:

Join National Heritage Academies (NHA) as an ELA Curriculum Specialist. The ELA Curriculum Specialist will report directly to the ELA Curriculum Manager and will be responsible for curricular needs relating to programs, resources and documents in our East Michigan schools.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Create and facilitate professional development for teachers and leaders on topics such as instructional strategies, data response, and curricular tool implementation
  • Develop and revise lesson plans, assessments, and/or other instructional routines and frameworks for K-12 ELA teachers
  • Collaborate with school leadership to enhance teacher quality through direct coaching at schools around effective instruction, data analysis, and assessment administration
  • Research and promote best practices in assigned content areas
  • Model effective literacy instruction
  • Additional duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Education is required, Master's Degree in preferred
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of English Language Arts teaching experience preferred
  • Experience writing and presenting professional development
  • Thorough understanding of ELA state standards
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to complete multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Excellent communication skills are essential, both written and verbal
  • Ability to use technology for collaboration
  • Ability to function within general assignment of responsibilities
  • Ability to travel as required (up to 50% depending on location)
