Dispatcher

Millhaven Terminal

SUMMARY

Reporting into the Logistics Supervisor, the Dispatcher is responsible for supporting and driving successful delivery of product orders to customers. This role plays a critical part in the Logistics team, and works closely with Terminal and Plant Operations, Sales, and Operational Finance and Accounting. This is a 24/7 operation with just-in-time deliveries to customers. The role requires night and weekend coverage and the ability to operate in a fast paced environment.

You will be responsible for receiving orders and scheduling delivery logistics, ensuring customer requirements such as providing required documentation are satisfied, communication with key stakeholders, and making changes to the schedule when required in order to ensure on-time delivery to customers.

PRIMARY SCOPE OF ROLE

Dispatch Responsibilities

  • Receive and schedule customer orders (product, hauler/driver, loading time, delivery time/location) and ensure that additional customer requirements, such as required documentation, are provided
  • Identify and resolve delivery issues that may arise to help ensure on-time delivery to customers
  • Provide night and weekend dispatch coverage as required
  • Assist with scale house and ticketing activities
  • Maintain customer and order related data in order/logistics computer softwareactivities

Coordination and Collaboration

  • Act as central contact between Logistics, Haulers, Drivers, Operations, Sales, and Operational Finance/Accounting
  • Communicate emerging issues and work with stakeholders to resolve delivery issues to help ensure on-time delivery to customers

Business Improvement

  • Provide insights into hands-on and practical improvements that are possible to improve the order and customer delivery logistics process
  • Assist with maintaining, supporting, and configuring software programs that support the logistics process
  • Ensure adherence to policies, procedures, and standards related to customer orders and deliveries

Customer Service and Administration

  • Assist with Customer Service and Administration duties including data entry and reporting

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience in dispatch, scale-house, and/or related customer service
  • Experience in construction materials ordering and delivery
  • Ability to rapidly and effectively coordinate just-in-time deliveries to customers in a fast paced and fluid environment
  • Proven experience with scale house and ticketing operations
  • Ability to effectively both verbally and in writing with stakeholders
  • Computer literacy and basic math skills
  • Available to work nights and weekends
