Job description

Compensation and Benefits: 
  • Compensation: Hourly wage, adjusted based on experience.
  • Benefits: Seasonal position eligible for a season pass for employee/dependents and privileges at several other resorts. Several discount programs (i.e. food & beverage, retail/rental, tickets, etc.) also available.

Job Summary:

The Compressor Attendant will report to the Pump and Compressor Foreman and Snowmaking Manager and will over-see operations at a designated compressor pad during the winter snowmaking season. The Compressor Attendant is responsible for the operation of diesel and electric air compressors and related support equipment, upkeep of compressor pads and buildings, minor maintenance of equipment, routine operational checks and inspections of snowmaking pumps, compressors, and valving.

Summary of Key Responsibilities: 

Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following: 

  • Oversee operations of a designated compressor pad, pump house, area, or zone
  • Start, stop, warm-up, and maintain electric and diesel air compressors, based on the needs of the snowmaking system, as instructed by the snowmaking control room
  • Perform equipment adjustments based on snowmaking system needs
  • Conduct routine checks of snowmaking equipment such as air compressors, pumps, and valving
  • Maintain equipment logs and records hourly, daily, weekly, and monthly
  • Report pond and rivers levels to the snowmaking control room twice per day, or more, as needed
  • Notify the snowmaking control room of any alarms, issues, or potential problems in a timely manner
  • Remove snow and/or ice buildup at compressor pads, pump houses, valve stations, water inlets, snow making related dwellings, and surrounding areas
  • Assist snowmaking personnel with transportation needs of equipment and crew
  • Assist the snowmaking mechanic and/or maintenance foremen with minor maintenance on portable diesel air compressors such as changing oil, fuel, and air filters

 Basic Qualifications:

  • Valid US Driver’s License
  • Basic mechanical knowledge and skills
  • Ability to work night shift (7PM-7AM)
  • Must be able to work nights/days, 12 hour shifts, weekends, and holidays

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work outside in the elements, including frigid cold, for sustained periods of time
  • Must be in good physical condition
