Job description

Description
About Us
At FreshDirect, we are reinventing the grocery experience.
Since day one, our mission has been simple: bring the best, freshest food directly from the farm to people's homes - faster, fresher, and smarter than anyone else.
We're not just a food company. We're a technology-powered, customer-obsessed team building one of the most innovative end-to-end food supply chains in the industry. From proprietary routing systems to our state-of-the-art fulfillment center, every part of our business is designed to deliver unmatched quality, convenience, and care.
We partner directly with farmers, fishermen, and artisans to source the highest quality ingredients - then use smart data, automation, and logistics to deliver them at peak freshness.
It's grocery shopping reimagined - and we're just getting started.
If you're passionate about innovation, care deeply about what people eat, and want to help build the future of food, we'd love to meet you.
The Role
FreshDirect is looking for a dynamic and highly organized Event & PR Manager to join our marketing team in The Bronx, NY. In this role, you will be instrumental in bringing FreshDirect back to the heart of New York's food culture through best-in-class events, communications, and brand experiences.
This is not just an event management role - you will be a cultural brand builder and communications partner, helping shape how FreshDirect shows up across the city through events, storytelling across marketing and social channels and collaborations, with top chefs, restaurants, influencers, and iconic New York institutions.
You will lead the coordination and execution of impactful events, from intimate community activations to large-scale brand experiences, while also supporting PR, content, and day-to-day marketing operations that amplify FreshDirect's voice.
As part of the marketing team, you'll collaborate across internal departments and external agencies, turning fresh, creative concepts into reality while ensuring every experience and communication is delivered smoothly, within budget, and aligned with the brand.
This role requires someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, juggles multiple priorities with ease, and brings both creative energy and operational rigor to every project. A love of food, New York City, storytelling, and FreshDirect's mission is essential.
What You'll Do
Event Strategy & Execution
  • Partner with senior leaders and stakeholders to define event and experiential objectives aligned with broader brand, PR, and marketing goals
  • Lead planning and execution of events, activations, and brand moments that reinforce FreshDirect's presence in New York's food and cultural landscape
  • Develop creative event concepts and attendee experiences, including collaborations with chefs, restaurants, influencers, media, and cultural partners
  • Ensure all events are delivered on time, on budget, and at a high standard of execution

Public Relations & Communications Support
  • Assist in building and maintaining relationships with media, influencers, and content creators in partnership with senior marketing leadership
  • Manage media lists, outreach tracking, and coverage reporting
  • Monitor brand mentions and assist with reputation management and issue escalation as needed
  • Support storytelling efforts that translate events and campaigns into broader brand narratives

Marketing, Social & Content Support
  • Collaborate with marketing and social teams to support content planning tied to events, campaigns, and brand moments
  • Coordinate asset collection (photo, video, recap materials) from events for use across digital and social channels
  • Help ensure brand consistency across event communications, social content, and external messaging
  • Contribute ideas for social-first activations and culturally relevant content opportunities

Logistics & Operations
  • Support event operations including venue sourcing, site inspections, staffing, production, and on-site logistics
  • Manage administrative tasks such as calendars, scheduling, documentation, and internal coordination across teams
  • Maintain organized systems for event files, vendor contracts, invoices, and approvals
  • Develop and manage attendee communications, briefing materials, production schedules, and post-event reporting
  • Collaborate with internal teams to coordinate procurement and delivery of food and materials for events
  • Provide general marketing administrative support as required by the team
  • Travel to execute events in and around the New York City metro area as needed
  • Maintain flexibility to support events during evenings and weekends as required by event schedules

Agency, Vendor & Partner Management
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams, agencies, and vendors to deliver seamless execution across events and campaigns
  • Manage relationships with production partners, venues, chefs, restaurants, influencers, and cultural collaborators
  • Support agency coordination, ensuring alignment on deliverables, timelines, and brand expectations
  • Assist in briefing and managing external partners across PR, marketing, and experiential workstreams

Budget & Financial Management
  • Support event and activation budgets, including tracking, invoicing, reconciliation, and reporting
  • Assist in identifying opportunities for cost efficiencies and operational improvements
  • Maintain accurate documentation of spend and vendor agreements

Innovation & Continuous Improvement
  • Leverage AI tools and emerging technologies to improve event planning processes, streamline workflows, enhance creativity, support research, and drive operational efficiency.
  • Stay current on trends in experiential marketing, food culture, and event technology to keep FreshDirect's event programming fresh, culturally relevant, and forward-looking.

What You'll Bring
Experience & Education
  • 5+ years of experience in event management, experiential marketing, or related field.
  • Bachelor's degree in Event Management, Marketing, Communications, or related discipline.
  • Proven experience managing multiple projects across events, marketing, or communications simultaneously
  • Experience working with agencies, vendors, and cross-functional internal teams

Skills & Competencies

  • Adept project manager with the ability to own timelines, flag risks, and drive projects to completion.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to produce polished briefing documents and present to senior stakeholders.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally across teams at all levels.
  • High level of professionalism, initiative, and a solution-oriented mindset.
  • Nimble learner who embraces change and continuously seeks to improve processes and outcomes.
