Location: Forest Park, GA

Contract- 15 Months

Client- Southern Company Services

Position Overview

The Data Analyst II supports TSS Engineering by developing and maintaining data-driven tools, dashboards, and applications to enable informed decision-making across engineering and operations. This role requires strong technical skills in SQL, Python, Spark, and data visualization as well as an understanding of utility power transmission and substation engineering business processes.


Major Job Responsibilities
  • Data Acquisition & Maintenance: Acquire, filter, and clean data from primary and secondary sources; maintain structured databases and data systems.

  • Data Analysis: Identify, interpret, and analyze complex trends and patterns in large datasets. Apply statistical techniques to deliver actionable insights.

  • Dashboard Development: Create and maintain Power BI/Tableau/Palantir Foundry dashboards for leadership visibility into performance metrics.

  • Visualization & Reporting: Translate engineering and business data into intuitive dashboards, custom visualizations, and clear reports.

  • Process Improvement: Assess and recommend best practices to improve data workflows, accuracy, and efficiency.

  • Collaboration: Partner with engineering leadership, finance, and regulatory teams to support compliance and reporting needs.

  • Ad-hoc & Critical Projects: Support urgent reporting, financial/regulatory submissions, and high-visibility projects requiring specialized analytics.

  • Training & Support: Provide end-user support and informal training on visualization tools and analytics concepts.

  • Custom Applications: Assist with development of adaptive web and low-code applications for reporting and process automation.


Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an analytical discipline (Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or Engineering) preferred.

Experience & Skills:

  • 3–5 years of professional experience in data analytics or related field.

  • Strong proficiency with SQL, Python, and/or Spark for data manipulation.

  • Demonstrated experience developing dashboards in Power BI (preferred), Tableau, or Palantir Foundry.

  • Experience handling large datasets; familiarity with big data, data modeling, and data management technologies.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Exposure to utility power transmission, substations, or engineering shared services strongly preferred.

  • Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, Databricks) is a plus.

  • Strong analytical problem-solving skills with a natural curiosity to learn.

  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple requests and meet deadlines.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
