Job description

Golf Maintenance Team

General Summary:

This position fills a vital role in our Grounds Maintenance Staff at The Greg Mastriona Golf Courses at Hyland Hills, preparing the golf course for daily play as well assisting in the upkeep of the surrounding landscape of the club. This position is seasonal in nature and operates from approximately March to November of each year. The hours will be flexible and weather dependent throughout the season. You will have the opportunity to earn 32 - 40 hours on a weekly basis. Weekend and Holiday shifts are required in a rotational format and are usually about 3-4 hours each day in the morning. Exact hours and days of work will vary slightly throughout the season depending on weather conditions and the time of year. Morning and afternoon shifts are available with peak season morning shifts starting as early as 5:00 am.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Ride mowing of playing surfaces
  2. Operation of backpack blowers, string trimmers, push mowers, etc.
  3. Operation of large machinery (ex. tractors, mowers, etc.)
  4. Preparation for sod with hand tools; rakes, shovels, etc.
  5. Operate specialty machinery (ex. aerators, sweepers, etc.)
  6. Leaf/debris cleanup and removal
  7. Course setup
  8. Assisting in minor irrigation repairs and hose watering designated areas of need
  9. Sand bunker maintenance
  10. Basic landscape and horticultural practices, including preparation of annual flower beds, trimming and planting
  11. Operate all machinery in a safe and responsible manner
  12. Other maintenance tasks as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  1. Must possess a valid driver's license
  2. Must be able to pay close attention to detail
  3. Must be adaptable and be able to work independently for long periods of time
  4. Must be dependable and punctual with transportation to and from work

Working Environment/Physical Activities:

  1. Must be willing to work weekend mornings as needed
  2. Must be willing to work outside in all weather conditions
  3. Must be physically capable of completing simple manual labor tasks
  4. Must be capable of lifting up to 50 lbs.
  5. Must be capable of carrying up to 25 lbs for several hours at a time.

Education/Experience:

High School Diploma or equivalent education is preferred, or students working towards Diploma.
