They are responsible for collecting blood samples for diagnostic testing, maintaining sterile procedures, and ensuring the proper identification and handling of specimens. In addition to phlebotomy skills, they must adhere to strict security protocols and be able to work safely within a correctional environment. Weekend shifts often require flexibility, strong communication, and the ability to manage challenging situations.

To thrive as a Weekend Correctional Phlebotomist, you need proficiency in venipuncture, specimen handling, and knowledge of infection control procedures, typically supported by a phlebotomy certification and relevant state licensure. Familiarity with laboratory information systems (LIS), safety protocols, and point-of-care testing equipment is essential.
