POSITION: Parking Attendant, Part Time

DEPARTMENT: Parking

REPORTS TO: Parking Coordinator / Parking Manager

The Role:

Under the direct supervision of the Parking Manager and/or Parking Coordinator, the attendant is responsible for collecting payments for garage access, assisting with pay stations, directing vehicles, and maintaining garage operations at the Broward County Convention Center. The role also serves as a liaison between the facility and clients, ensuring client requirements are met and that all facility rules, regulations, and policies are followed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Process credit card and electronic parking transactions accurately and efficiently.
  • Assist guests with parking pay stations, gates, and parking access equipment as needed.
  • Direct and manage vehicle traffic entering, exiting, and circulating within parking facilities to ensure safe and efficient flow.
  • Support event parking operations during high-volume events.
  • Monitor parking areas for safety, operational concerns, and unauthorized activity, and report issues to supervisors as necessary.
  • Set up and remove parking cones, barricades, signage, and designated parking areas as directed.
  • Provide excellent customer service by assisting patrons, answering questions, and resolving basic concerns professionally.
  • Complete required reports and documentation related to parking transactions, equipment issues, and daily activity.
  • Maintain and properly use supplies, tools, equipment, and parking technology required to perform job duties.
  • Follow all facility policies, safety procedures, and operational guidelines.
  • Assist with maintaining cleanliness and organization within the parking garage and surrounding area.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of one year of customer service experience.
  • Experience using payment devices and pay stations, a plus.
  • Experience in convention centers, hotels, or similar settings is a plus.

  • Strong communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to remain flexible and adapt to changing situations.
  • Capable of resolving issues and addressing complaints in a calm and professional manner.
  • Ability to work under pressure and deliver accurate results.
  • Able to follow written and verbal instructions with minimal supervision.
  • Friendly, self-motivated, and enjoys working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable communicating effectively with guests, clients, vendors, and coworkers.

  • This is a part-time, on-call shift position.
  • Must be available to work irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, based on event needs.

  • Moderate to high noise levels during events; hearing must be sufficient to clearly hear voices, alarms, bells, and horns.
  • Regularly required to move throughout the facility, stand for long hours, and communicate clearly with others.
  • Must have the mobility to move quickly between different areas of the venue.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 20 pounds as needed.
  • Requires good eye-hand-foot coordination and dexterity to operate basic tools and equipment.
