Job description

Foster CM Group, a highly respected Construction Management firm, is looking for a Construction Inspector in the Seattle area. Qualified candidates must have a minimum of 3-5 years' experience in aviation construction, project delivery, and general construction inspection. Ideal candidates will be able to effectively monitor construction activities, verify compliance with plans and specifications, prepare thorough inspection documentation, communicate with project stakeholders, and help support the successful delivery of the project.
Job Responsibilities:
Essential duties for this job include but are not limited to:
· Attends pre-construction meetings and answers questions from contractors and other attendees.
· Performs inspections in active terminal, airfield, and landside environments, coordinating work sequencing to maintain uninterrupted airport operations.
· Monitors project phasing and ensures compliance with approved safety standards; inspects barricades.
· Observes and inspects ongoing construction work.
· Documents work progress and issues arising throughout scope of project.
· Performs material testing of asphalt and concrete.
· Work in inclement weather. (hot/cold/rain)
· Work non-standard hours/day, including some weekend and holiday work on occasion.
· Support substantial completion, punch list, and final acceptance activities for structural scopes.
· Verify compliance with AISC, AWS, ACI, PTI, TMS, FAA Advisory Circulars, airport owner design and construction standards, and project specific contract requirements.
· Review and verify shop drawings, erection plans, welding procedures (WPS/PQR), bolt installation methods, and special inspection plans.
· Identify, track, and verify resolution of non-conforming structural work through corrective action and reinspection.
· Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
Required Competencies:

Education:
· Minimum - High School Graduate or Equivalent in general high school studies.
· Preferred – Degree or major coursework in Construction Management, Architecture and/or Engineering, or a related field.
Work Environment:
  • The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving machinery & mechanical parts, uneven ground, exposure to dust, gas or fumes, exposure to loud noise, and outside weather conditions.
Physical Requirements:
  • The physical requirements must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Intermittent unassisted sitting, walking, standing, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting, stooping, crawling, pushing and lifting is required. Must be able to walk and/or stand for prolonged periods of time for at least eight hours per day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move light equipment up to 50 pounds without assistance. Must be alert to equipment in the field, occasional need to work near hazardous equipment and machinery, ability to walk on uneven ground while physically maneuvering construction sites, ability to work in extreme temperatures or humidity, and potentially work at heights.
Other Requirements:
  • Possession of a valid state of residence driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Daily travel to and from construction sites, generally within 100 miles from the home office is expected. Short term, out of town, assignments may be required. Long term, out of town, assignments may be required, with advance notice of planned dates.
  • May be required to work protracted and irregular hours to meet client's needs, including nights, overtime and weekends.
